Masterworks Singers Newsletter Fall 2025 No. 16

Dear People,

I am so very grateful to have the opportunity to make music with my friends!

Last night, our first rehearsal with instruments went very well. You all responded with elevated musicianship and an awareness of how important it is to work collaboratively toward our artistic goals.

To be performing at this level takes commitment and an attitude of kind sharing and cooperation, which translates into an energy that is hard to describe. You really just experience it, rather than describing it in words. That is the underlying beauty of the Creator, showing that this amazing language of music transcends all other forms of communication.

Last night also led me to decide Saturday morning's rehearsal plan.

We still have a call time of 9:45 AM for vocal warm-up with a downbeat with instruments at 10 AM.

However, instead of you reporting to your standing position on the "staging area", I would like you to sit in mixed formation in the section of pews that would be close to the brass, timpani, and organ.

The rehearsal with orchestra will take a lesson from the best of the NBA coaches as they approach a playoff...."SAVE YOUR LEGS" ...

You all have now had a great experience on the stage, hearing the orchestra, and you all will do very well. The blend and balance are just as I have envisioned by going into mixed formation.

The only standing we will do on Saturday morning will be for Herself A Rose... and Sing My Child ...

Thanks to Amber, who has made an updated mixed placement chart, I want you to position yourselves in the pews for the rehearsal using the mixed placement.

Check the Saturday rehearsal order below. It allows the orchestra members to be released when they are done.

Schedule:

Saturday, Nov. 15, Dress rehearsal (final rehearsal... comfortable clothes) 9:45 call Singers Warm-up. Rehearsal 10 with instruments. Instruments are released when each has finished. Rehearsal concludes at 12 noon.

Sunday, Nov. 16, Concert evening. Call time: 6:00 pm in a standing position for warm-up. A Start / Stop run-through of all pieces, instruments included. Concert at 7:30 pm.

Reminders: Concert dress is all black. Please, no perfume or cologne.

Let us continue to work on our confident faces, showing our intention of GIVING to our audience. The musicianship will follow that look, and excel!

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT PARIS FESTIVAL

I am in contact with Perform International to ask about the possibility of a group flight. As of yet we do not have a quote.

We have been receiving some messages that some of you are experiencing a notice that the trip is full when you are attempting to register.

That issue has been resolved. The explanation is that there was an initial total reported to Perform International based upon the answers to our Questionnaires.

The good news is that we have reached our initial projection of participants. Those notices were a temporary report, resulting in some being placed on a waiting list.

Our official Representative at Perform International has now gone into the system and has increased our inventory.

You should have no further issues with registration for the Festival and Tour.

If you do, please contact me at 512-699-7014 by text, and we will assist.

I want you all to be able to see and read the chosen texts for the major work of next Spring. Elaine has not chosen a title yet. The score should be finished by the end of November and to us for first inspection by December. For now enjoy these amazing texts...

FALL 2025 PROPOSED MUSIC PROGRAM

This semester will be focused on themes of Hope out of hardship, tragedy, and loss. In memory and honor of those who were lost in the recent floods, as well as anyone who has lost loved ones, or who has experienced any recent tragedies. The Music will hopefully provide a respite and induce the virtue of Hope.

First half =

3. The Prayer of the Children by Kurt Bestor w/ orchestra.

4. The Quest by John Rutter w/ orchestra.
