Masterworks Singers Newsletter Spring 2025 No. 21
Dear Singers,
Hello to all you Dear People!
I do hope you are all safe and have power after our rounds of stormy weather!!
This Newsletter is Number 1 of 2 Newsletters you will receive today. I have decided to separate the Subject Matter of these two because BOTH are important, but
they are substantially different.
This Newsletter only features the important information about call times for Sunday's important Performance Number 2 of Illuminare (and other Featured Pieces!)
CALL TIME FOR ARRIVAL AT ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA CHURCH
We must all arrive at 5:45 pm Sunday Evening June 1.
At 5:45 we will gather in the Family Center of SCS which is directly
across the plaza from the back entrance to the Sanctuary.
There is a 5 pm Mass on Sunday. We cannot enter the Sanctuary until the Mass lets out.
We will meet in the Family Center to get into performance postion. Please try and remember as best you can what row and who you are standing with.
We will warmup in the Family Center so please be on time.
ENTERING INTO THE SANCTUARY AS CLOSE TO 6 PM
When
Mass lets out we will move into the Sanctuary as quickly as possible. Here is where the help of as many as possible will be important.
- The Piano must be moved slightly. This takes four men to lift and place. It will not move far but it will need to move into our normal placement for it for performance.
- We will place the conductors podium into position. We will need seven chairs and stands in front of the podium for strings and woodwinds. The two
brass players, the bassist, and percussionist will set their own positions up near the piano.
- All the Instrumentalists will be responsible for situating themselves comfortably.
- We position ourselves in the performance space and begin our Run-Through Warm-up as soon as we are set.
CONCERT IS AT 7:30 ... WE FINISH OUR WARM-UP AT 7:10 AND OPEN THE HOUSE
MORE REMINDERS...
1. Don't forget
your music.
2. Concert dress is the same as before. Ladies all black...opaque hose or leggings. Men all black .. no ties.
3. Stools will be provided.
I URGE EACH OF YOU TO REVIEW THE ENTIRE CONCERT BY SINGING THROUGH WITH YOUR SCORE AS YOU LISTEN TO THE TRACKS ON EDUBLOGS.
I am so trusting that all of you will prepare yourselves to do your best by reviewing and listening over the next days. If you do so, you will be
surprised at how musical this performance will be because the first concert will be in your memory banks and singing muscles. You just need to add the imagination and concentration back in, and this will be a magical performance.
I am so very proud of you all!
And now for a "tease" about the next Newsletter...
This organization has had this kind of "get ready and perform quickly" experience many times and in many places
worldwide.
Now that we are assured of receiving 100% of our bankruptcy claims back.... I can now announce an exciting opportunity about a wonderful invitation we have received.
I will be sending Newsletter 2 of 2 later this afternoon after we move equipment to St. Catherine. Please come back and read later!!
Blessings and thanks to each of you!
Morris
